Give your dish a Swedish twist
Today I'm making Swedish meatballs according to an authentic recipe.
With plenty of fresh herbs, ground allspice, and a tasty cranberry sauce.
Would you like to give a dish a Swedish touch as well?
Below you will find my recipe for the cranberry sauce. Delicious with all kinds of meatballs, sausages, or fried chicken breast.
This recipe is sufficient for 10 people and can be stored in a fridge set to a maximum of 5 degrees for 4 days.
Fry in a pan with a splash of sunflower oil over medium heat until the onion is soft and lightly coloured and the bacon is lightly cooked:
100 grams finely chopped onion 100 grams bacon cubes 1 clove of garlic peeled and finely chopped 2 teaspoons dried thyme
Meanwhile, make the roux in another small saucepan by melting 100 grams of butter and then adding 100 grams of flour, stirring until smooth and thick. Let this roux cook gently over low heat while the onion cooks.
Add the roux to the onion and bacon and then add: 500 ml chicken stock
Bring the sauce to a gentle boil while stirring well. You will feel the sauce thickening.
Then add: a splash of brandy 100 grams dried cranberries 100 grams cranberry compote 10 grams finely chopped fresh dill
Mix everything well and season to taste with a bit of salt and black pepper if needed.
Enjoy your meal!
