How it all began
Fifteen years ago
A sabbatical in Mallorca
My husband Joris and I took a sabbatical and lived on Mallorca for more than six months. We both had busy jobs and young children — and on the island we rediscovered how wonderful it is to truly have time for each other.
The kitchen garden
I rediscovered my love of cooking
We had a kitchen garden at the house. There I picked fresh herbs, vegetables and fruit. When family or friends visited, I'd spend hours in the kitchen making the tastiest dishes with ingredients from our own garden.
Back in the Netherlands
How great would it be…
…if I could cook for families who, just like us before our sabbatical, need a little relief on busy days? That idea never left me.
The first meals
So I just started
I rented a professional kitchen and cooked meals for people in our neighbourhood. Those families were so enthusiastic that more and more regular customers followed. And slowly MarleenKookt kept growing.
By cargo bike
Also to Haarlem
When the first customers moved to Haarlem, they told us how much they missed us. So we thought: why not deliver there too? And that's how we expanded step by step.
Today
A team that makes many families happy every day
By now we cook with a team for more than five thousand people across the Randstad, Brabant and Gelderland. And still with the same care as in that first rented kitchen.
